Ubos is the Peruvian name for this tropical tree fruit. Ubos is a tree that can grow up to 20m in height and develop a body of 60-75cm in diameter.
Ubos is typical of the lowest areas of the humid forests of Amazon in Peru, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia and Guinea, as well as areas of southern Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica and the West Indies. It is strictly tropical and is rarely at altitudes greater than 1000m.
The leaves and bark of ubos contain tannins, saponins, flavonoids, sterols, quinoni antioxidants and phyto-chemical elements. It's been documented that the leaves contain several derivatives of salicylic (aspirin is a type of salicylic acid), which probably explains the use of tradional leaves for various types of pain. The bark and leaves also contain a renowned caryophyllene phyto element with anti-pain. The leaves are also a source of significant source of chlorogenic acidoo. This phyto-chemical element has demonstrated antibacterial properties, antiviral and anti-inflammatory.
No studies have reported the properties of stimulating uterine ubos. The leaves of ubos have also read the actions of muscle relaxant, uterine antispasmodic, sedative, anticonvulsant and anxiolytic. In addition, the leaves of ubos have a long history of use for the treatment of intestinal worms and parasites in both humans and animals.
The bark of ubos has also been studied by scientists. Have been reported anti-inflammatory actions that could be explained by another study that has documented in vitro actions of COX-inhibitor (an enzyme involved in inflammation in the creation). The bark also has antibacterial action, but not as effective in the leaves. He was also reported the ability to inhibit human retroviruses 82%, which perhaps may explain its history of use for diarrhea. Another in vitro tests have documented that the ubos bark has a marked antifungal and anti-candida.
The bark and leaves were both subjected to studies for their possible anti-tumor and anticancer effects.
In 2002 he received a U.S. patent for a cosmetic product containing an extract of leaves of ubos. In the patent, the researchers indicated that the leaves have ubos depigmentation effects, antioxidant, anti-aging, stimulating the cell metabolism and solar filter for the skin.
